Corporate Overview
Occam Networks Inc. was founded in 1999 to develop and market solutions that help local telecommunications carriers meet the challenge of profitably delivering high-speed broadband services such as data and video, as well as lifeline voice services to residential and business subscribers. Occam is focused on simplifying today's complex access network to help carriers lower the cost of running their networks and deliver new services that can improve their return on investment and profitability.
The company is a first mover in a new telecom equipment product category. Its pioneering Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) platform immediately solves critical problems that broadband operators face in the deployment of entertainment and communications services. Through the use of Internet Protocol and Ethernet technologies, Occam’s BLC 6000 multiservice access platform (MSAP) enables carriers to add the bandwidth they need to provide new, revenue-generating broadband services, while also lowering capital expenditures and operating expenses.
The company also markets a complete line of optical network terminals (ONTs), customer premise equipment that provides intelligent demarcation between the broadband provider and the consumer or business. These ONTs enable new revenue opportunities within the premise to broadband providers with enhanced service offerings.
Occam Networks markets and sells its products to independent local exchange carriers (ILECs), independent operating companies (IOCs), and municipalities and alternative operators in North America select International markets. The company primarily focuses on the local residential and business broadband access market, a telecommunications market segment with strong growth potential.
Occam has assembled a world-class team with veterans from Cisco, Ericsson, Alcatel, Sun Microsystems, N.E.T., and BBN that have the proven ability to develop innovative telecom equipment and effectively work with carriers through the trial periods that lead to volume orders.
