The CEO Connection

As we move into the new year, our goals for 2009 are simple. We want to continue to grow and strengthen our company by expanding our customer base, adding strategic business partners and broadening our role in the industry. To do that we must continue to deliver innovative technology and products with the performance and intelligence that meet your most demanding requirements, while more simply enabling you to provide new, cutting-edge services .

Last year we focused on expanding our portfolio of fiber products; but we know that there are still many valuable copper lines in your networks—so this year look for some exciting new products designed to help you leverage installed copper plant.

We are also placing an added emphasis on our participation in important standards organizations so that we can play a larger role in creating industry standards that represent your voice. During the week of January 20th, Occam hosted a meeting of the Full Service Access Network (FSAN) Group, an international GPON standards organization. More than 75 vendors and operators from approximately 40 companies were in attendance. While we have been FSAN members for many years, this event gave us a chance to expand our role in the important standards organizations that shape the future of your networks.

As we begin 2009, we recognize that many of you are filled with uncertainty about the economy, regulatory changes and other things that may affect your business. We start the year with a promise to you to continue to look at the challenges you face with new ideas, to rethink how things have been done in the past, and resolve to find new, simpler ways to meet those challenges.

Wishing you and your business a most prosperous New Year.

President and CEO
