Occam Networks, Inc., a supplier of Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies, has announced that Etex Telephone Cooperative, Inc., one of the largest independent local exchange carriers in Texas, has purchased multiple products of Occam's Broadband Loop Carrier system in order to provide customers with advanced services, such as Triple Play.
"Although we work with other equipment providers, we chose to bring in Occam to help us upgrade our network to offer IPTV and a complete range of Triple Play services," said Danny Johnson, Assistant Manager of Etex Telephone Cooperative, in a Tuesday statement.
Johnson continued: "We are deploying one of the largest Triple Play installations in Texas. To date, Occam's BLC implementation has met all of our expectations and their engineers have completed all the projects we identified on time and on budget."
Etex is deploying Occam's BLC 6252, 6440 and 6312 blades inside Occam's BLC 6012 chassis. The 6252-02 ADSL2Plus Blade provides 48 ports of ADSL2Plus with Lifeline POTS on the same physical interface to deliver voice, data and video services.
According to Russ Sharer, vice president of marketing for Occam, the company is excited about helping Etex to deploy their Triple Play network. The BLC 6252, the company's combo POTS and DSL blade has become the workhorse for IOCs seeking to offer IPTV. Sharer believes the software and service monitoring capabilities of the solution to be unmatched in the field. Etex plans to offer customers a deployment consisting of a mixed copper and fiber triple play to enhance the offering of advanced services. Sharer expressed that the company's vision is perfectly in line with Occam's.
Sharer went on to add that delivering differentiated voice through a VoIP Softswitch, true high speed internet, fully digital IPTV and capacity for nearly unlimited Video on Demand will allow Etex's subscribers to experience the promise and power of IP networks. Occam is ready and excited to help Etex deploy a very large network to support Triple Play.
Occam offers broadband loop carrier solutions to enable telecommunications and other service providers to offer the most innovative voice, broadband, IPTV and full triple play services over copper or fiber. The company positions its solutions as offering telco service providers maximum flexibility and scalability in order to continuously expand their offerings.
Etex certainly has much to gain from this partnership with Occam as it will be able to offer customers the solutions and service packages that they are demanding. Consumers will have more of the choices that they want that can be packaged together in a cost-effective option.
