Occam Networks Enables Hopi Telecommunications to Overhaul Network, Upgrade Tied to Community Improvement Initiative

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Aug 15, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Occam Networks(R) Inc. (NASDAQ: OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies, announced today that Hopi Telecommunications, Inc. (HTI) has chosen Occam Networks' Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) equipment to overhaul their network. N-Com, L.P., headquartered in Lubbock, Tex., assisted HTI in selecting Occam.

HTI has purchased equipment to completely overhaul their entire network from outdated legacy equipment to modern POTS/DSL/T1 solutions. Occam blades HTI will deploy include the BLC 6150-01 and BLC 6151-01 Lifeline POTS blades, BLC 6246 and BLC 6252-02 ADSL2Plus with Lifeline POTS blades, and the BLC Emergency Standalone (ESA) blade.
Hopi Telecommunications is a new telco, founded in 2004, and today serves 2,000 subscribers. Leaders of the Hopi Tribal Council decided to purchase the phone system as part of a strategy to improve life in the community through upgraded infrastructure. In addition, Tribal leaders believe the improved infrastructure will assist the Hopi Nation maintain and attract jobs for Tribal members.
