Occam Networks(R) Inc. (NASDAQ:OCNW), a leading broadband access network supplier, announced today that Horry Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HTC), the nation's largest telephone cooperative and the 25th largest incumbent local exchange carrier in the U.S., has purchased Occam's latest Outside Plant (OSP) turnkey solution featuring the 4033 Remote Terminal Cabinet (RTC) equipment enclosure. This purchase is part of an upgrade to expand and increase DSL services throughout Horry County.

HTC is shortening copper loop lengths and pushing fiber closer to customer premises in preparation of offering new, advanced broadband services. Occam's RTC 4033 OSP solution will increase the capacity of existing OSP service areas. In addition, Occam's Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) 6000 platform will be used as direct replacements for competitive DSLAM equipment. The BLC and RTC 4033 turnkey solution is a key component of HTC's access network design strategy.

"We selected Occam's RTC 4033 OSP solution for its compact design and its ability to support Ethernet copper and fiber backhaul," said Joshua Norton, network engineering supervisor at HTC. "The simplicity and versatility, coupled with easy-to-use craft working areas within the cabinet's compact footprint makes the 4033 an ideal fit for HTC."

Norton continued by noting the design of Occam's OSP solution enables HTC to deploy services more efficiently and recover cost quicker than other solutions. In addition, its scalability will ensure HTC has the capability to evolve to other access technologies in the future.

HTC was the first company to deploy fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in eastern South Carolina and has been deploying Occam's BLC 6000 platform since March 2006 to deliver services including Lifeline POTS and ADSL2Plus.

"Broadband services are driving a wide range of telecommunications service providers to redesign their access networks to ensure sufficient capacity and coverage. Occam's complete range of access solutions - including cabinets - help telcos such as HTC quickly, simply and cost-effectively complete these upgrades," said Nathan Harrell, vice president of sales for Occam Networks. "Our focus on 'time to revenue' is an important consideration for service providers eager to see a rapid return on their access equipment investment."
