Multiple Outside Plant Options for Carriers
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Sept. 22, 2003 – Occam
Networks Inc. (OTCBB: OCCM), a supplier of innovative Ethernet
and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies
worldwide, today announced an agreement with Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV),
to provide integrated cabinet solutions for its Broadband Loop
Carrier (BLC) systems. Through the agreement, Avaya will provide
custom cabinet solutions including new cabinet design and testing
for Occam customers. Occam's flexible BLC platform and
Avaya's extensive cabinet product line and ability to
quickly design custom cabinets dramatically expand the equipment
options available to IOCs engaged in quickly delivering voice,
video and data services to subscribers.
“Avaya is an industry leader with a long history of successful cabinet development and integration, and they have been more than willing to deliver solutions based on our customers' unique needs,” said Bob Howard-Anderson, president and CEO of Occam Networks. “We've been very impressed with Avaya's emphasis on quality and responsiveness, and the people we have worked with understand our desire to provide the best possible solution to our customers, especially as we begin to roll out our new BLC 6000 Systems.”
The Integrated Cabinet Solutions group in Avaya Connectivity Solutions delivers cabinets that are custom designed to meet the unique needs of individual carrier customers. The group fabricates all of its cabinets, integrates and assembles a variety of sophisticated electronics from many vendors and completely tests cabinet solutions for customers. Because of the nature of their contents, each cabinet is tested for durability and security while also being accessible for maintenance and able to expand with growth.
“We always benefit from working with innovative companies, and Occam is certainly an innovator in the loop carrier market,” said Julie Nielson, Avaya general manager, Integrated Cabinet Solutions. “Occam's compact and inventive design provides customers with maximum flexibility in their cabinet solutions. We've worked with Occam to develop cabinet solutions that customers can deploy immediately and grow into as demand increases for voice, data and video.”
