Occam Networks' BLC Blades Selected by Access Integrated Networks,
a Leading Georgia Telecom Service Provider
Fast-Growing Georgia CLEC Has Purchased More than 35,000 Ports in Two Years
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – March 22, 2007 – Occam Networks® Inc. (NASDAQ: OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies, announced today that Access Integrated Networks, Inc. (AIN), a fast-growing competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) headquartered in Macon, Georgia, has purchased multiple products of Occam's Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) system as part of its growth strategy, which includes moving over POTS lines from BellSouth as well as offering POTS and DSL.
“Our growth strategy includes, in part, taking over business and residential lines from BellSouth; i.e., moving them onto our softswitch. Occam's BLC products help make this transition a smooth process,“ said Chris Aversano, vice president of operations at Access Integrated Networks. “With more than 100,000 lines total that need to be moved to our switches, we look forward to working with Occam over the long term.”
AIN is deploying Occam's BLC 6150, BLC 6151 and BLC 6252s blades. AIN has purchased more than 35,000 POTS ports over the last two years. These POTS ports are converted to VOIP for transport through BellSouth's Metro Ethernet network. This VOIP allows for a seamless integration into AIN's softswitch.
“AIN is in an exciting growth phase and we are eager to help them build one of the most advanced networks in the Southeast,“ said Russ Sharer, vice president of marketing for Occam. “We also look forward to assisting AIN with future projects as they expand into offering new and more advanced services for their residential and business customers.”
