Occam Networks Helps Iowa Telco LISCO Deploy FTTH and Triple Play Services
Iowa CLEC Upgrades Network with Occam's BLC 6000
SANTA BARBARA, California – May 1, 2007 – Occam Networks® Inc. (NASDAQ: OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies, announced today that the Local Internet Service Company (LISCO), a leading competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) serving in the Fairfield, Iowa area has begun purchasing Occam's BLC 6000 Fiber products as part of a strategy to overbuild Fairfield with fiber to the home (FTTH).
"After reviewing the offerings of multiple access equipment providers, we selected Occam Networks. Occam demonstrated the best ability to deploy Gigabit Ethernet to the home,” said Lance Yedersberger, president of LISCO. “We believe Active Ethernet is the optimal technology in terms of stability and flexibility to offer new, advanced broadband services to our subscribers.
“Our goal is to empower our community to compete in the global marketplace. We understand that in countries like Japan and Korea, broadband speeds of 100 Mbps are standard. LISCO intends to make this speed the basic service offering in Fairfield. We would like those companies developing the next generation of Internet applications to think of Fairfield as a place to test their advanced products.”
LISCO has purchased Occam's 6312 Optical Line Termination blades and 6314s 10GigE Optical Packet Transport and Optical Line Termination blades. When complete, LISCO will be able to offer Triple Play services (the combination of voice, data and video) to approximately 4,000 residential subscribers.
“LISCO's aggressive program to overbuild Fairfield with fiber will help ensure its subscribers receive the most advanced services available,” said Nathan Harrell, vice president of sales for Occam. “We look forward to helping them deploy and turn up the equipment necessary to offer subscribers Gigabit Ethernet service to their homes.”
