Occam Networks' GPON Named INTERNET TELEPHONY® Magazine Product of the Year Award
BLC 6322 GPON Optical Line Termination Blade Recognized for Outstanding Innovation
Santa Barbara, CA - January 29, 2008 - Occam Networks® Inc. (NASDAQ: OCNW), a leading supplier of innovative Ethernet and IP-based loop carrier equipment to telecommunications companies announced today that it has received INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine's 2007 Product of the Year Award for its BLC 6322 GPON OLT Blade. Introduced in the fourth quarter of 2007, the award-winning OLT blade is the latest bandwidth booster for Occam’s flagship BLC 6000 System.

Key to the success of the Occam technology is the Occam Packet Engine. The game-changing chip supports the massive packet processing necessary to deliver Triple Play services by allowing a single OLT blade to switch packets at a multigigabit-per-second rate. Additionally, unlike access systems that limit GPON with oversubscribed ATM-based backhaul, the Occam system supports bandwidth for every GPON port simultaneously. This is critical for high IP-HDTV on-demand take rates. The packet engine technology also performs high-speed deep packet inspection, manages more than 2,048 simultaneous data streams and delivers hardware-based QoS, security and multicast management.
With its seamless delivery of subscriber traffic both upstream and downstream, the Occam blade makes it possible for a variety of telco customers, from single-family residences to multiple dwelling units to local businesses, to receive a variety of services, including lifeline POTS, high-speed Internet, video and digital business services.
The 6322 GPON OLT blade operates in the company’s existing chassis.
